Prezi
I'm still deciding whether or not I like http://prezi.com . It seems like a program that after one use is going to cap my downloads for the month! For me, it seems like powerpoint, concept maps and youtube all rolled into one. This could be utilised in positive ways, but I don't think I'll be using it in lessons. It seems time consuming and I would not recommend it for secondary schooling. This could be good for younger students to play around on and to learn basic computer skills.
This is an interesting tool Jasmin. I like the idea that if a Learning Manager wanted to present something like a concept map for understanding a process or how material relates together. Basically you could make up a concept map on paper or with mindmapping software -- or directly in Prezi -- and start drawing paths and/or lines and arrows to connect the ideas in a logical flow.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, concept mapping is a great tool especially for understanding how your students think. I just believe for something like concept mapping I would recommend bubbl.us rather than prezi. Bubbl.us is a program that is fun, fast and easy to use and would be more ideal for a 70minute lesson. On the other hand I believe Prezi would become more of a distraction as it is (As I personally found) harder to use. It is important to find the right ICT tools to accomplish the intended learning outcomes, rather one that is going to cause a distraction to the class.
